Jon Holmquist first began taking photographs using a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye when he was in grade school. As a native Oregonian, he grew up hiking, climbing and camping in the Cascade Mountains, wandering the beaches of the Oregon Coast, and taking trips to the arid high plateau of Eastern Oregon - surrounded by some of the most striking beauty in the country.

After studying science at the U of O for several years, he shifted gears and used his growing photography collection to start a retail photography business specializing in scenics of Oregon. He assembled one of the first private color printing labs in the area. His wanderlust rapidly grew as he and his wife Ann began traveling to far reaches of the world.

"We live in a remarkable and unique time. Never before have humans had the opportunity to travel, with relative ease, to almost anywhere on earth. A single person can become familiar with the whole planet within their lifetime. I would feel almost remiss if I didn't use this opportunity to see as much of it as I can."

Ann grew up in the Southwest, with a similar love of the outdoors. Her uncle was the superintendent of both Mesa Verde and Canyon De Chelley National Parks. Her teaching career started on the Pima and Navaho reservations in Arizona.

Jon and Ann have visited all of the world's continents except Antarctica - a place Jon wants to go more than Ann - but she's coming around. They usually travel on their own and like to visit one (or at most two) countries per trip - focusing on learning as much as possible. Wherever they go, they prefer to stay and eat in the most "ethnic" areas. They also share a love of history and art - and have visited most of the world's most famous museums.

Eventually, Jon's original interest in science and technology compelled him to complete a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, and later to get an MBA. He's an accomplished programmer, and has managed computer systems as both an I.S. Manager and a CIO. His technical expertise, coupled with his ongoing love of photography, is what ultimately lead to the creation of the three related websites:
Photo Stock Source,
Panorama Source, and
Oregon Stock Photos. He currently spends his time doing custom website design with his company
Imaginal Web Design. He is the sole designer and producer of all content, artistic and technical, on this website. Read more about

Panoramas
As part of his web design experience, Jon regularly explores the newest web-ready techologies. One technology that has been in existence for some time, but has recently become more accessable, is panoramaic image production and viewing. Even though today, anyone can create a panorama with their mobile phone, Jon has developed his own techniques to stitch and display panoramaic images from multiple images to display on webpages. You can view panoramic images on this website or visit his
Panorama Source
website, especially dedicated to panoramic images and panorama production.
Oregon State
And last but not least, Jon has created a website devoted to the beauty of his home state of Oregon. Visit
Oregon Stock Photos for a collection of images from the Pacific Coast, the rural valleys, the Cascade Mountains, and the arid plateaus of Eastern Oregon.
